Golf Courses
Alhaurin Golf Resort
Alhaurin Golf offers a spectacular 18-hole course designed by Severiano Ballesteros. It allows you to use all the clubs in the bag ensuring a great day of golf where every hole is different.
The course is made up of 5 par fives, 5 par threes and 8 par fours providing a balanced game for low and high handicappers alike.
Water only comes into play on three holes and greens are lightly guarded by bunkers in most cases.
Lauro Golf
Lauro 27 Golf can be found in the middle of beautiful pure nature in spectacular surroundings.
The course with 27 holes that can be played in three different combinations, all par 72.
From the beginning, the design and function of the course has been based on respecting nature and the environment that surrounds it by not only saving and caring for the already existing trees but also by planting thousands of new trees, most of them indigenous Andalusian species.
Cabopino Golf
Located just a stone’s throw from the popular tourist destination of Cabopino Marina between Marbella and Mijas Costa, the Cabopino golf course is definitely one not to be missed. If you are visiting the Costa del Sol for your golfing break, the Cabopino course is well worth a visit.
Miraflores
Miraflores Golf has been a favourite here since the early 90’s and offers very good value to golfers all year round. I find it to be one of the nicest for views too!
They have a superb driving range with two-tiered practice areas both of which are undercover. This is a must if you want to practice when the sun is beating down overhead.
The golf academy also has its own bar and pro shop which are separate from the club.
There is a wonderful clubhouse with an excellent well-stocked restaurant that offers a range of quality live entertainment 4 nights of the week.
Downstairs you will find the terrace bar. It’s a great place for a cool drink after your round of golf.
Torrequebrada
Torrequebrada Golf Course is often described as like playing a British parkland course and you have to agree with that after you have completed a round here.
There is a nice relaxing start to the course with a wide fairway on the first of the par 5 holes. The one thing you don’t want to do though is go to long from your up-hill fairway to the elevated green because you will be on the next tee!
Santana
Santana Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole golf course par 72 and measures approximately 6203 metres or just under 7,000 yards in length. The course sits in the middle of 138 acres of stunning parkland filled with Avocado trees, along with many other trees such as Eucalyptus, Orange and Lemons, Cactus, Pines and Fig. All you need to do, is make sure you do not put your ball in the middle of them!
Calanova
Located in the stunning ‘golf valley’ close to the town of La Cala de Mijas and just a few minutes from the lovely local beaches, the Calanova course is a great course to play during your golf trip to Spain and is suitable for golfers of all playing abilities.
The course is one of the newest on the Costa del Sol and was first opened in May 2006. It’s an 18-hole, par 72 course which is well-maintained and of which has been designed with USGA rules and regulations in mind.
A great characteristic of the Calanova course is that it has over 500 sqm of greens, meaning easier approach shots. This also means that there is the possibility of a wide range of pin positions from the simple to the extremely challenging.
Another feature of the Calanova golf course is that the tee positions are spread over a number of different platforms giving players the opportunity to play the course over a range of distances. Some of the elevated tees also make for some spectacular tee shots where players can visualise the flight of the shot before playing their shot.
Due to the beautiful natural landscapes, almost every golf hole will provide you with lovely views to the La Cala de Mijas mountains and the Mediterranean Sea.
The course is easily accessible via the N-340 motorway and is just 25 minutes from Malaga Airport (AGP).
El Chapparal
Located just 20 minutes from Malaga City and Airport, El Chaparral is one of Costa del Sol’s favourite golf courses. It’s one of the most popular 18-hole courses on the coast for those looking to experience the challenge of some of Spain’s top golf courses while enjoying the warm and sunny year-round climate.
The course offers views of the Costa del Sol’s stunning coastline, and the surrounding natural terrain and meanders through indigenous pine forests.
The El Chaparral course is not only beautiful to look at, it’s also a challenging course unique in the fact that it is the only course on the coast which has six par 3’s, six par 4’s and six par 5 holes.
Imagine yourself poised on the tee, your attention distracted only by the panorama, the warm sea breezes and the scent of the Mediterranean brush and pine. A golfers paradise!
El Chaparral offers all the services and facilities you would expect from one of the Costa del Sol’s best courses including a 32-bay driving range, 18-hole practice putting green, pro shop, restaurant and bar, clubhouse and golf academy offering group and individual golf lessons.
Once you have finished your round, head for the clubhouse where you can enjoy a cool drink and some tasty local dishes while overlooking the course and pine forests from one of the outside terraces.
Santa maria
Santa Maria Golf is a course that a lot of our golfers like to play at the end of their golf trip.
The course is really a nice wide course that makes for a not-so-tough last round of golf.
The 1st is a wonderful starting hole leading away from the clubhouse, you must hit over a small lake to a very friendly fairway, aim to the right and the ball will roll back nicely into the middle to leave you an easy approach, big hitter may get there in one!.
There are some very nice holes here that allow you to use driver or woods off the tee without worrying about going out of the course and still being near enough to reach the first par 5 in 2.
Parador
If you are spending a golf holiday here on the Costa del Sol, then why not give yourself a treat and tell your friends that you have played Andalucia’s oldest golf course?
The Parador de Málaga Golf Course was first opened in 1925 as a nine-hole course under the supervision of Harry Sephard Colt. Colt was one of the leading golf course designers in his day and was responsible for the famous Wentworth course in Surrey.
Some years later, the course was extended into an 18-hole course by Tom Simpson, who is also well known for being the architect of many famous golf courses including Turnberry and Muirfield in Scotland.
